Just some notes on how I have my streaming setup, since I always forget. # Video When streaming on macOS, _turn off ProMotion!_ This makes a _HUGE_ difference in performance when, say, drawing a window. With ProMotion on, certain operations on my system slow to a crawl. With it off, the problem simply goes away. I imagine this may be the true cause for all the "why is my Mac so slow when OBS is open?" threads out there. # Audio 1. Using Blackhole (2ch) Audio MIDI Setup:![[CleanShot 2024-03-10 at [email protected]]] 2. Playing audio through speakers. Not using a headset. Reason being that a headset makes it harder to get all the audio levels right. 3. Configure OBS. 1. Add Desktop Audio (point to **OBS Audio**) 2. Add a Noise Gate filter on Mic/Aux ![[CleanShot 2024-03-10 at [email protected]]] 5. Adjusting audio levels on each device prior to switching to the **OBS Audio** multi-device. ATR USB Mic: 100% External Speakers: ~16% Blackhole 2ch: 100% OBS Desktop Audio: -21.5dB (~45%) OBS Mic/Aux: 0db (100%) ![[CleanShot 2024-03-10 at [email protected]]] 5. Set mic to be about 45º off-axis, instead of directly to the front or side.
