# Tiger 2-XL-R8
Remember the Tiger 2-XL? It was a toy in the 1990s (well, the latest revision) that worked as a quiz bot. You inserted a program cassette and a fun, quirky robot personality would joke with you and ask you questions. You'd answer questions using 4 answer buttons at the bottom of the 2-XL, and the responses would be based on your answer.
I decided to revisit this old toy and rework it into something modern, adding the following two key modifications:
* USB-powered
* Raspberry Pi instead of a cassette, storing all 2-XL cassettes
# How the 2-XL works
A compact cassette tape has 4 tracks, and this is usually used to play songs in stereo on a side A and a side B.

The 2-XL instead uses 4 mono tracks, all side A, to carry 4 audio streams. The 4 answer buttons correspond to the 4 audio tracks. So, when you press a button and hear you got the answer right, it's because you switched the audio to the track with that answer.
