In March 2020, COVID hit California. Within the month, it hit my home county, Butte County. My family and friends didn't have a lot of information available to help them stay safe, so I began tracking what information I could find. I put it into a spreadsheet and sent them screenshots. That became the [Unofficial Butte County COVID-19 Dashboard](https://bc19.live), which tracked everything available for the county, including case numbers, deaths, hospitalizations, nursing facility outbreaks, school cases, county jail cases, and more. To help explain the data, I began doing reports every day on Facebook and Twitter (and later Mastodon and BlueSky). These carefully explained the trends and the data in a way the average person could understand and use to help stay safe. This work led to two local community awards, several radio interviews, a TV interview, and newspaper articles. Thousands of people paid attention to the reports, and I sincerely believe (at least I hope!) that it made a difference. As of this writing (August 2, 2025), I'm still doing periodic reports based on local wastewater data. # Pages * [My dashboard](https://bc19.live) * [Facebook Reports](https://www.facebook.com/bc19.live) * [Twitter Reports](https://x.com/bc19live) * [Mastodon Reports](https://mastodon.online/@bc19live) * [BlueSky Reports](https://bsky.app/@bc19.live) * [Buy Me A Coffee donation page](https://buymeacoffee.com/chipx86) # Related Pages * [[CDC Wastewater Data]] * [Dashboard GitHub Repository](github.com/chipx86/butte-covid19-dashboard/)
