Hi! 👋 I'm Christian. Let me tell you a bit about me. I've been a software developer for most of my life, getting my start when I was 7 years old on a TRS-80 CoCo Model 1. Started my first company at age 10, doing computer consulting for local businesses, and then a web development company at 16. I became a developer in the Linux space, working on the GNOME desktop, parts of GTK+ (via the [[libsexy]] and [[GTK Parasite]] projects, now part of GTK+), the [[Gaim (Pidgin)|Gaim (now Pidgin)]] multi-protocol IM client, the [[Desktop Notifications|libnotify/notification-daemon desktop notifications]] standard common on Linux, and the [[Galago desktop presence framework]] used on some Nokia devices in the 2000s. I worked at VMware for 9 years as a Linux developer working on the Workstation, Server, WSX, Player, VMRC, and View Client products. These days I'm CEO of [Beanbag, Inc.](https://www.beanbaginc.com), a software development tools company, and creator of [[Review Board]], one of the very first products for doing code review (predating the existence of GitHub, and inspiring many of the code review features that are now staples in the industry). I also do [[Butte County COVID-19 Reporting|volunteer COVID-19 reporting]] for my home county. Built a [COVID dashboard](https://bc19.live) and began doing daily reports on the local COVID situation in early 2020, focusing on hyper-local information. Recipient of some community awards, and for a while a regular on the local news. I've been using [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md) as my off-loaded brain for years, and decided to share parts of those disjointed thoughts and notes with the Internet.
